Those with a leading role that involves shaping the provision for SEND in the Early Years setting, including SENDCo’s, managers and leaders.
VENUE/DELIVERY: delivered via the Early Years Foundation’s virtual training suite whereby delegates can access the training in the comfort of their own home/office.
The training is live and fully interactive offering the same level of in-depth learning as a face-to-face course. It is recommended that all delegates log on using a PC or laptop for ease of use.
OBJECTIVE:To effectively identify, at the earliest opportunity, and support children with SEND and their families in-line with:
The requirements of the Statutory Framework for the EYFS
The SEND Code of Practice
Developing systems to identify children with SEND that supports the settings policy for early intervention
Developing inductions for new children that promote information sharing and contribute towards children’s early assessments
Empowering parents to contribute towards their child’s early and ongoing assessment
Sharing progress and achievements with parents
Working with parents to develop next steps for children that allows them to build upon their learning
Developing shared high expectations with parents of children with SEND
Early intervention and the joint review
Partnership working across education, health and care
Developing a ‘gradated response’ to identify, monitor and support children with SEND and their families – identifying the assessment methods and relevant interventions including those aspects supported by the local authority Early Years team
Discuss how to effectively incorporate the local authorities’ ‘Local Offer’ into the settings provision for supporting children with SEND
How to promote close consultation with parents right from the start
Developing and reviewing SEND Support Plans with parents
Developing individual planning to support children with SEND – including how to differentiate learning opportunities: support and extend
Identifying and providing appropriate challenge for children who are ahead in their learning and who are exceeding age-related expectations
Supporting children with SEND in preparation for school readiness
Undertaking the processes in place for applying for ‘additional resources’ to support the child in their first term/year in primary school
Discuss the implications for the EHC framework in supporting children’s continued and sustained success
Working in partnership with the local authority Early Years team to support children with SEND and their families
Full certificate provided for CPD and Ofsted purposes
